Bolts that thread into metal tend to be SAE. Most all of them in metal (Steel / Iron) are SAE, you may find a few metric. The bolts that go in Aluminum (Metric) tend to have more threads per MM, to insure a better fit, and apply less stress to the soft aluminum over a set length. All I have seen is metric on it. Don't forget that some sizes come close to cross over: 5/16= 8mm. 1/2= 13mm. 3/4= 19mm. Probably more, but I would (personally) never use the SAE on a metric or the other way around. L.
